How to Be an Overcomer in Life

How to Be an Overcomer in Life By Toni Walker 1. You Choose Your Focus We can spend all day blaming others and our situation for how we are so pushed down. But basically you have to dry those tears, put on your big girl panties and decide -- ENOUGH! I am worthy of it all, just like the song says. We choose our focus every day. How we react and what we choose to do with our day is so important. Pastor Quinton Runyon used to say you can see what your life is by looking at who you are spending time your with and what you are reading or watching on tv/YouTube. How are you programming yourself each day? If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future. Focus on living in the present.  Then Ask for what you want, then Knock and Seek! 2. Wait on God to move if you are unsure. Sometimes we just can't see the path before us. It's okay to take a break and rest until your path clears. 3. If you fall down, RefocusTHe Get back up, dust yourself off and try

Devotional - Faithfully Waiting On God To Move

Faithfully Waiting On God To Move A Devotional by Toni Walker All my life you have been faithful, All my life you have been so, so good, With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God -- Goodness of God, song I not going to say I am cursed because definitely I am not. I'm just waiting. And have been waiting for a very long time. When I was in college, I had an experience I let color my life for decades. One day I went to a restaurant. I'm not even sure it was a restaurant at this point. Not even sure of the occasion since I didn't go out much. At this place there was a palm reader.  She took my hand and made a bunch of, "ah shucks, sorry, girl" faces and then told me I wouldn't find love till later in life. She then shrugged and moved on to the next table. To her it was nothing, no big deal, but to me being so young and wanting to find love, it crippled me. I was dating someone at the time, but she had shook her head saying it wasn'

Day 1: 100 Days of Grace and Gratitude by Shanna Noel

Hi! Welcome to Day 1.  I started this devotional last Saturday. But I thought if you wanted to follow along, I could start posting everything here. I am a writer at heart and using this devotional is helping the writer in me have an outlet to express myself in my spiritual walk. The main scripture from Psalm 118:24 says, this is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. That word rejoice really stands out, right? This is the cover of my journal (see right). It is a postcard from a cross stitch friend named Sew Grateful. I washi taped it to the front of my journal to remind me to be grateful. It says, a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices. Kinda goes along with today's theme.  Sing a new song to the lord; sing his praises from the ends of the earth - Isaiah 42:10 Blows me away how these scriptures and this devotional always resonates. It's a God thing for sure. Take a minute today to journal about how you are rejoicing. Are you weary like the song says?
