How to Be an Overcomer in Life

How to Be an Overcomer in Life
By Toni Walker

1. You Choose Your Focus
We can spend all day blaming others and our situation for how we are so pushed down. But basically you have to dry those tears, put on your big girl panties and decide -- ENOUGH! I am worthy of it all, just like the song says. We choose our focus every day. How we react and what we choose to do with our day is so important. Pastor Quinton Runyon used to say you can see what your life is by looking at who you are spending time your with and what you are reading or watching on tv/YouTube. How are you programming yourself each day?

If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future. Focus on living in the present.  Then Ask for what you want, then Knock and Seek!

2. Wait on God to move if you are unsure. Sometimes we just can't see the path before us. It's okay to take a break and rest until your path clears.

3. If you fall down, RefocusTHe Get back up, dust yourself off and try again. It's not how many times you fall but how many times you get back up that counts. We let the world tell us that if we fail, we should never try again. Edison tried over a thousand times before he ever got the light bulb to work right. Don't give up right before the praise session. You have no idea how many people are rooting for you to succeed. Or how many people you are inspiring to be better or do better. Someone is always watching us and helping us to stand our ground and find our true path -- that's God. He has our back even when we don't. He has an army of people ready to poke you and give you brain freeze so you will finally one day decide that you are worthy to stand up and fight for what you want to manifest in your life.

I have told you all this so you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. - John 16:33

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. - 1 John 5:4

4. Pray and ask God to strengthen us.
Help us God to turn our weaknesses into our very strength and foundation. Give us confidence that in you we will find peace beyond all understanding. Make our hope lie in you daily. Amen.

5. Change your thinking and get your mind in line. Sometimes our mind can be such a gaslighter. Our mind can be easily tricked by the devil. So feed your mind good food like scriptures, devotionals, and positive books that lift your spirits. Find someone you admire and make them a mentor. Mentors can hip check your mind and soothe it so it can see God and his mercy.

We can do anything through the power of Christ in us. - Philippians 4:13

God is helping his children overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:21

6. Work on overcoming sin in your life. Have you ever thought, I can do this bad thing one time and it will be okay? Nope! That's the devil whispering to you. A thought like that leads down a rabbit hole you don't want to visit. Like the sunflower, turn your face to God.

Unconditionally surrender yourself to God and let Christ guide your life. - 2 Peter 3:18

God promises that if we are willing to honestly confess our sins to him, he will forgive us. - 1 John 1:9

God promises that if we overcome, we will not only live forever but also be given robes of white to wear and power to rule over nations. - Revelations 2:7, 2:11, 2:26, 3:5

7. Don't be afraid to do it bad in order to learn. One of the best things I ever did for myself as a new writer was to give myself permission to do it bad, epic-ly mess up and then if it went all wrong, throw it away. No one would ever have known I'd failed but me. In truth, every time we fail, that failure gives us feedback on the way to our ultimate success. So, go ahead -- do it bad -- you just might discover the true masterpiece inside you is being whispered to by God. Yes, you are enough. And He sees you.

8. Seek mentors to show you how they have overcome their obstacles. You can find mentors every where in daily life. But you want to know who a great mentor is -- Jesus! He is the ultimate overcomer -- plus when he became the sacrifice for us -- he allowed us to be overcomers just like him! Not to die on a cross, but to conquer our challenges so we can live the great life God has promised us.

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. - Winston Churchill

All things are promised to work together for our eternal good.  - Romans 8:28

God wants to remind you, when it comes down to pure truth...

I'M YOUR PROVIDER, NOT YOU!I

Ultimately, God is fully aware of everything that goes on in your life. Every. Single. Thing. God provided for your needs yesterday. He will provide for your needs today, tomorrow and every tomorrow after that if you are faithful, turn your eyes in his direction and follow him daily.

Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard today was, tomorrow is full of possibilities.
