Deep Hole Moments

Sometimes, life throws us into situations that feel utterly devastating. Moments where we look up and wonder, "God, why? Why this pain? Why this struggle?" Recently, I had to face a painful truth about my health. A stubborn diabetic ulcer on my foot turned into a serious infection, and the doctor had to do what felt like the unthinkable: cut away a lot of areas, just to get to the healthy skin underneath. It was painful, both physically and emotionally.

In that moment, it felt like I was being forced into a deep, dark hole. But as I've reflected on it, I've realized something profound: Sometimes, God allows us to go through these "deep hole" moments, these painful "cuttings," to bring about a deeper healing. Just like my foot needed that painful procedure to truly heal, our hearts and spirits sometimes need to go through trials to reach the good, healthy parts within us.

It's never easy. It's never quick. It's a season of healing that often takes much longer than we want. But in those moments, when it feels like we're being stripped bare, God is actually working to remove the infections, the hidden wounds, the things that are preventing us from truly thriving.

Just as a gardener prunes a plant to help it grow stronger, God prunes us. He shapes us, refines us, and ultimately heals us.

"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."1 - 1 Peter 5:10

Let's remember that even in our darkest moments, God is working towards our ultimate healing and restoration. He sees the "healthy skin" underneath the pain, and He's committed to bringing it to light.
