Maple Lane Mystery: The Case of the Forgotten Faces

A Sunny U: Faith Harvest Devotional Mystery – Fall Edition

Theme: Discovering Legacy, Restoring Hope
Season: Autumn (Faith Harvest)
Format: 6-Week Devotional + Mystery Clue Journal
Main Character: Rita Logan, Teen Sleuth of Maple Lane

MYSTERY OVERVIEW:
When Rita Logan finds a scrapbook titled "Maple Lane's Forgotten Faces" hidden behind the hedges at the Maplewood Rec Center, she has no idea it will lead her to uncover stories long buried—people who once shaped the town but vanished from memory. Each week, as the leaves turn gold and the harvest season approaches, Rita follows a trail of clues leading her through the heart of Maple Lane: its people, its past, and its pain. As Rita solves each clue, the community is drawn closer to truth, healing, and rediscovering forgotten legacies.

WEEKLY THEMES & DEVOTIONAL CLUES:

WEEK 1: "The Hidden Scrapbook"
Scripture: Psalm 90:12 – "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
Clue: A red ribbon-bound scrapbook found behind the hedges
Devotion Focus: What do we overlook or forget too easily? Legacy begins when we remember.

WEEK 2: "The Sunflower Photograph"
Scripture: Galatians 6:9 – "Let us not become weary in doing good..."
Clue: A black-and-white photo of a woman standing in front of a sunflower field, tucked into the scrapbook.
Devotion Focus: What seeds have we planted and forgotten? How do acts of faith bloom years later?

WEEK 3: "The Canceled Fall Festival"
Scripture: Joel 2:25 – "I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten..."
Clue: A flyer for a Fall Festival from 30 years ago with the words “CANCELED – DUE TO TRAGEDY.”
Devotion Focus: When dreams are stolen or postponed, how does God redeem lost seasons?

WEEK 4: "The Veteran’s Medallion"
Scripture: Isaiah 58:12 – "You will be called Repairer of Broken Walls..."
Clue: A bronze medallion belonging to a forgotten WWII veteran, linked to an abandoned house on the edge of town.
Devotion Focus: Honoring those who served in silence—God calls us to repair what was left broken.

WEEK 5: "The Anonymous Letter"
Scripture: Romans 12:21 – "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Clue: A letter tucked into the scrapbook signed only, "For the Good of the Town."
Devotion Focus: Doing good, even in secret, reflects God's heart. How do we leave a legacy of righteousness?

WEEK 6: "The Harvest Celebration"
Scripture: Philippians 1:6 – "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..."
Clue: A new community event hosted by Rita and friends to honor the "Forgotten Faces"
Devotion Focus: Closure is not the end—it's the beginning of the next good work God is writing.
